Japan Resort Property Prices and Where Your Budget Goes Further
How far does changing resort stretch a property budget? Uchi compares September apartment, house and smaller-plot asking prices, with monthly and annual movements and the samples behind them.
September 2026 asking prices across apartments, smaller land plots and houses
The median apartment asking price per square metre in Rusutsu sits almost 31% below Hirafu in Uchi’s September report. For a buyer considering both destinations, that is a substantial difference to investigate before choosing a resort, let alone a particular property.
The comparison becomes more interesting when Furano and Hakuba enter the picture. Their median apartment purchase prices are lower than Hirafu’s too, but the gaps change considerably once floor area is taken into account. A smaller purchase budget and a lower price for each square metre are different advantages.
Our first monthly comparison examines those differences across apartments, houses and smaller land plots. It asks where advertised prices stand, how they have moved since August and September last year, and which changes deserve a buyer’s attention. The purpose is to make the next property search more informed: to identify where widening the shortlist could make a material difference, and where a tempting headline needs closer inspection.
